Dear friend, ā£ ā£ Unclench your jaw. Relax your Dear friend, ā£ ā£ Unclench your jaw. Relax your shoulders. Take a deep, deep breath. I wrote this for you. ā£ ā£ As I am writing this letter to you, life isnā€™t fully figured out. You are not 100% sure of where you are going or what you will do next. ā£ ā£ What if we set the worry, what-ifs, self-doubt, & pressure to perform down for a moment? What if for these next few moments you look in the mirror and ask ā€œhow are you? Really, how are you?ā€ ā£ ā£ Friend, youā€™re doing your best. ā£ The job that you have? Itā€™s getting done. ā£ The business youā€™re building? Itā€™s doing great. ā£ The job or purpose youā€™re searching for? Itā€™s already on its way to you. ā£ ā£ ā–«ļøYou are not designed to meet the needs of everyone else at all times. ā£ šŸ’šYou are not meant to move through your day without recognition of your breath, heartbeat, & priceless being. ā£ ā£ ā–«ļøYou are not your title.ā£ ā–«ļøYou are not your bank account. ā£ ā–«ļøYou are not others opinions or judgements of you. ā£ ā–«ļøYou are not your worry. ā£ ā£ šŸ’šYou are love, growth, passion, unique, creative, inspiration, unconditional, and so supported. ā£ ā£ Friend, I want you to take this moment for yourself. ā£ What is that nudge pulling you towards? ā£ What are the things that light you up, energize you, & bring feelings of peace? ā£ ā£ Itā€™s okay to not know those answers right now. ā£ Itā€™s okay if those answers change. ā£ ā£ Give yourself the gift of going for what is yours. Prioritize your peace above all else. ā£ This day & all days are ones you cannot get back. ā£ ā£ This path is your path. Sometimes it may not make sense, but I hope when you look back you feel happy & proud. ā£ ā£ Surprise yourself with what you have in store. ā£ ā£ Today is your day to get to know yourself better. ā£ ā£ Friend, take what you need & leave the rest. ā£ ā£ From me to you, here is a love letter. ā£ šŸ’šā£
The day I walked out the door I questioned everyth The day I walked out the door I questioned everything. Itā€™s been 2 years... 24 months since I stepped away from my 12+ year corporate career. I know social media may make it seem like leaving your day job whether you love it or itā€™s sucking the life out of you is like wallking through golden gates of bliss on your last day. Iā€™m going to be real with you, it was one of the scariest, most exhilerating, breathtaking, breath-holding, empowering days of my life. As soon as I walked out the door I started wondering did I make the ā€œrightā€ decision? Omgosh how am I going to make money? What about my health insurance? What if my co-workers hate me now? Does my boss feel like I betrayed them? What if my family & friends actually DONT support me even though they told me they do? What am I thinking creating a business?! Let me be real about something else, it works out. It always works out. The journey from 9-5 to entrepreneurship is no joke. I havenā€™t experienced anything cracking me wide open like this journey & I wouldnā€™t trade it for the world. Over the last 2 years I have overcome burnout that I believed was my new normal. I have welcomed new relationships & let go of those no longer serving me. I have learned more about myself in my 32 years in the last 2 years. I have discovered and embraced the only way I now know how to experience absolute joy... By being myself & loving every moment, mistake, opportunity for growth, & strengths through it all. I could write an entire book on this, but instead here are 24 things I have learned in the last 2 years. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for being a part of this community. I love you. šŸ’š
WHAT IS THE COST OF STAYING WHERE YOU ARE? Iā€™ll WHAT IS THE COST OF STAYING WHERE YOU ARE? Iā€™ll be honest- when Iā€™ve asked myself or been asked that question in the past, it triggered me. How dare someone assume Iā€™m not considering my own happiness right where I am? Truth be told, the majority of us are hardwired or conditioned to believe ā€œeveryone else before yourself.ā€ Past perfectionist Marisa lived & breathed by that ā€œruleā€. How would you answer the question? What IS the cost of you staying right where you are? Iā€™m not talking about just the financial cost (letā€™s get real with that one too another time), Iā€™m talking about your peace, happiness, joy, impact, magicā€¦ Iā€™ll give you 5 of the almost 100 responses I answered this question with in 2018 1ļøāƒ£My mental well-being. I felt like I was losing my mind more & more every day. 2ļøāƒ£Time with my loved ones that I couldnā€™t get backā€¦ I took a week off for my grandpaā€™s memorial & I received a comment from a co-worker ā€œA week? That seems like a long timeā€ Yes, that happened. Ever wonder why 55% of Americans donā€™t take paid vacations? GUILT. 3ļøāƒ£My relationshipsā€¦ Burnout began taking a toll on my relationships.. Turning down friends & perpetually checking & responding to email while I was with @mclements27 4ļøāƒ£My physical health. Burnout began wreaking havoc on my body. Sinus infection, after migraine, after sinus infection, debilitating anxiety, exhaustion. 5ļøāƒ£My identity & ability to feel joyā€¦. This one is still hard to look at. My passion faded, motivation to do things I loved decreased, & I often found myself wondering ā€œWho am I?ā€ I kept the list of responses close to me at all times. I carried it in my purse, coat pocket, emailed it to myself. These were my reasons for no longer staying where I was. To address the burnout I was experiencing & ask for and accept help. Standing there, frozen...blank, shaking, terrified Standing there, frozen...blank, shaking, terrified. I couldnā€™t form a single sentence. I forgot my phone number, address... July 2018, 5:34am, I was putting gas in my car before heading to work.ā£ Inserted my card, entered my PIN- declined. Entered again- declined.Ā Phone #? Couldnā€™t remember it.
